Project Management 2.0 with Zoho

The latest from productivity application developers Zoho is Projects 2.0, an online project and team collaboration suite. On top of standard project management tools such as reports and scheduling, Zoho enhances it’s offering by integrating popular Web 2.0 features. Here is what you can expect to see in this release…

Project Planning through milestones, tasks, priorities, completion, dependencies and ownership, along with the ability to import from Microsoft Project.

Project Collaboration features include a Project Stream to track recent activities, User Status for Twitter-like status updates, Shared Project Calendar to stay up to date on upcoming deadlines and meetings, Project Wikis, and Centralized File Sharing with folders, tags, search and versioning. Integration with Zoho Office is also available for document creation and editing. Discussion features are enhanced by interactive forums and live chat.

Project Tracking is easy through the Project Dashboard which offers an at-a-glance view of project activity. Additional features include reports for visual evaluation of project progress and timesheet tools for tracking time spent on tasks.

A free version of Zoho Projects 2.0 is available for unlimited users working on a single project. Additional projects and increased storage require paid plans available from $12 – $80 per month.

Socialtext Announces Free Collaboration for up to 50 Users

At the Enterprise 2.0 Conference today in Boston, collaborative social software provider Socialtext announces Socialtext Free 50 to entice companies on the fence to integrate enterprise social networking into their organizations. This new freemium model offers online collaboration tools such as micro-blogging, social networking, personalized home pages, and a wiki workspace.
 
“Many of our customers take a practical approach of workgroup use, before widespread transformative deployments,” said Eugene Lee, CEO of Socialtext. “These new offerings enable more businesses to discover a new way of working without barriers and decide when to engage with us to grow revenue, strengthen customer relationships and adapt to change. Features reserved for premium accounts that you won’t see in Socialtext Free 50 include multiple wiki workspaces, technical support, the ability to deploy Socialtext behind company firewalls, access to the SocialCalc collaborative spreadsheet, and obviously the ability to allow more than 50 users to access your company’s Socialtext account.

Collaboration Software Updates: TeamUp, TeamDrive, Confluence

FatWire TeamUp 3.1 launches, streamlining collaboration for the web. TeamUp 3.1 enables team members to work together and share content through social computer features such as wikis, blogs, tags, comments, and more. New features give wikis third party application mashup support, a custom dashboard with a personalized news feed, profiles, and gadgets, along with enhanced rich media management, new admin tools, multi-lingual support, and more.
 
At the 2009 CommunityOne West conference TeamDrive demos a collaboration application for the SunCloud with enhanced security features for enterprise and private customers. The seal of privacy for IT-products and privacy protection audit for public authorities was awarded to TeamDrive by the ULD – Independent Center for Privacy Protection. “Security is a primary concern for companies looking to deploy their critical data to the cloud,” says Juan Carlos Soto, VP of Marketing at TeamDrive.
 
Atlassian releases Confluence 3.0, a simple yet powerful wiki tool that allows teams to create and share documents and rich content. New features include creation of the Plug-In Exchange which gives developers a marketplace for their Confluence plug-ins, along with the Macro Browser which allows plug-ins to be easily embedded into your page. New profile enhancements include on-hover profile summaries when you mouse-over a user’s name, additional options for adding details to your profile, and more control over how you view content within the Profile Panel. Other new additions, commonly found in Enterprise 2.0 offerings, include Activity Streams, Status Updates, and Twitter like user networks where you can follow and be followed.
